Shawn Frankpicture of Shawn Frank with his family

Shawn J. Frank is an assistant principal at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science (TJHSST) and Technology, in Alexandria, Virginia. He currently supervises the Humanities and World Language Divisions, Special Education, ESOL, and Library Services. Mr. Frank is also managing TJHSST’s multi-million-dollar renovation that not only includes building improvements, but also the installation of cutting-edge technological equipment. Mr. Frank is also the co-founder of the TJHSST Learning through Inquiry, Fellowship, and Tutoring (LIFT) program, which identifies and prepares promising students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds for the TJHSST admissions process. Through this program, Mr. Frank and the participating faculty are providing a talented pool of students with access to the vibrant TJHSST school community.

Mr. Frank is in his ninth year in education administration and previously taught Social Studies in Alexandria, Virginia as well as in Seoul, Korea through the Department of Defense. Mr. Frank received B.A. in History and M.Ed. in Education from Hampton University and an Administrative Endorsement through George Mason University. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

In his spare time Mr. Frank enjoys spending time with his wife and two-year old daughter (ironically nicknamed TJ). He is an avid lover of all things pop culture and attending concerts.  He was born and raised in New York City, so he also enjoys rooting for the Giants, Yankees, and Knicks.
